The Isle of Man's Dan Kneen will head Yamaha's charge in the 2016 road racing season with the Northern Ireland-based Mar-Train team. Kneen steps in to replace the out-going Dean Harrison, who departed the team last month following a lack of factory support from Yamaha.
Kneen, 28, has been with the Padgetts squad for the past season, and enjoyed much success with the Honda-backed team. Kneen arrived at the team already with a victory at the 2014 Ulster Grand Prix under his belt, as well as the Irish Superbike Championship. This year he lapped the TT circuit at over 130mph.
Kneen stated, “I just with it was the beginning of the season now. The bikes are definitely good enough for the job.”
He'll contest the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix with the team on Yamaha's new YZF-R1 Superbike and R6 Supersport machine.
