As the sun sets on another Formula One season, we have only one more round of racing action before the teams wrap up their cars and put them to bed in their factory spaces back home. So as the Yas Marina circuit prepares to let the drivers do battle one more time in 2015.
What should we expect from the desert finale?
Another close fight between the Mercedes drivers is surely on the cards, both will want to go into the winter break with a win. Lewis Hamilton has been second best to Nico Rosberg in the past two races in both qualifying and the race. Hamilton has won here twice before and will be bouyed by that fact.
Nico Rosberg won't have forgetten about the ERS faliure that cost him the chance to fight for the 2014 title here last year; he will be keen to keep his current form up and fight Lewis for the final bragging rights of the 2015 season.
There are many fights still left to be had up and down the field. Who will win the in the battle of the Finns for fourth in the standings? Lotus Vs Toro Rosso for sixth in the constructors has only a nine point gap; so a good race for either team could change fortunes for one or the other.
Renault are poised to make an announcement over the Abu Dhabi weekend. The continuation of their relationship with Red Bull and the takeover of the Lotus team at Enstone look to be the big topics on the cards. I'm sure we will find out many new talking points to this as the weekend unravels.
McLaren-Honda will know doubt want to see the back of this race and get their 2016 preparations fully underway. 2015 has been one of the hardest in their history and despite clear intentions that lots of development through the year was going to help them, such efforts haven't come to fruition. 2016 can only bring better fortunes for the Woking squad.
With the championship already won, we can't doubt for one minute that this will be a boring affair. The Yas Marina circuit lends itself to close racing with the two DRS straights. Lack of degradation around the circuit can often bring about differing strategies to spice up the show. The lights, the setting sun, and fantastic racing will give us a grand finale to what has been another exciting season on Formula One.
Lights out in Melbourne is only 117 days away, we're counting down the days!
