Final Moto2 Victory for Rabat

Tito Rabat signed off his last race in Moto2 with a stunning victory at his home Grand Prix at Valencia.
Rabat, who also raced for the last time officially as Moto2 Champion before the trophy is presented to Johann Zarco, led the race from start to finish and was in impressive form similar to his title winning display last year but has been rarely seen this season. The victory will be a huge confidence boost for Rabat as he moves up to MotoGP for 2016 and aided by securing pole position too having missed the last three races due to injuries.
Rabat led away from pole position but after just one lap the race was red flagged due to a multiple rider crash at turn two which involved Morbidelli, Syahrin, Simeon, Folger, Schrotter, Mulhause, Vierge and Fuligni. Syahrin and Morbidelli were taken to the medical centre but fortunately there were no injuries. The race was restarted but shortened to 18 laps, however, Rabat made another great start and led the field away.
Alex Rins did not allow Rabat to escape and the duo, who were battling for runner-up place in the championship, had a race long battle but Rins was never able to mount a serious attack for first place. Rins eventually followed Rabat home, which meant Rins kept second place in the championship. Thomas Luthi secured another podium after a second place in the previous round at Sepang.
Lorenzo Baldassarri continued his fine form since returning from injury to finish a solid fourth ahead of Sam Lowes who made up for a poor qualifying position of 10th to claim fifth place. Luis Salom finished sixth ahead of 2015 Moto2 Champion Johann Zarco who struggled to seventh. Zarco debuted the 2016 Kalex frame for this round but with 352 points, the Frenchman set a new record for most points in the intermediate class.
Axel Pons, Simone Corsi and Mika Kallio completed the top ten in the season finale.
