Di Grassi says battery temperatures were “critical” during race

The Putrajaya ePrix was a race of attrition. The high temperatures and humidity were putting the cars to the test. Both Renault eDAMS cars, Antonio Felix da Costa and Stephane Sarrazin suffered reliability issues, and although it may have looked clean for race winner Lucas di Grassi, he insists this was not the case.

“It was an extremely tough race, mainly determined by battery temperature which is the same problem we had last year”, he said, "But, gladly, we managed it better than the others. We did a fantastic job, the team in the background did a perfect strategy and we managed to claim the victory and now the lead in the championship.

“The most intense moment was when I overtook Prost and the team told me that my battery temperature was already critical and I had to do anything I could to keep the battery temperature low. Of course, that’s not what you want to hear when you’re in P1, so I just managed to do the right job and we just nailed it right.”
