Martin To Miss TT 2016

Guy Martin has stated in his latest autobiography, “When You Dead, You Dead”, that he will not contest the 2016 Isle of Man TT and, instead, will enter the Tour Divide mountain bike race.

Martin, 33 years old, also stated that he will never return to the North West 200, the event he courted much controversy around after he said on live TV that he was “bored to the back teeth of riding round chicanes”. Guy later apologised, saying that he'd been caught at a bad time following a tricky practice session on his Tyco BMW S1000RR.

In his book, Guy stated, “I'm hoping to sort it with TAS that I can do all the races I normally do except the North West and TT. I want to enter the Tour Divide then maybe go back to the TT the year after.”

Guy has been out of action since August after suffering multiple injuries from a crash at the Ulster Grand Prix in the Dundrod 150 Superbike event.

The Isle of Man will certainly feel something of a hit with the Lincolnshire rider's lack of presence, as he is a massive pull for many people thanks to his TV and film exploits.

Whether or not he actually misses the TT is another question, as Guy is forever changing his mind. I think a year away may be a good thing for him. He could decide that he doesn't want to return at all, thus stopping putting himself into a dangerous position if his heart isn't in it. Alternatively, it could give him a renewed love for racing and see him come back stronger in 2017.
