Danilo Petrucci has been one of the stand-out performers of the season and again proved this in Sepang after a brilliant ride to sixth. The Italian recovered from a bad qualifying, where he managed just thirteenth at a track the Ducati should have taken him to QP2, to get a great start and later jump both Factory Suzukis.
Petrucci extended his advantage over Aleix Espargaro to three seconds and comfortably took his best dry result of the season.
Petrucci:
“It was the hardest race of my career but I managed to do well and this makes me very happy. I would like to dedicate this result to the team for the work they did during the weekend and also in the whole season. The start was good and when I saw that the others in front did not go away, I decided to push. I struggled with the two Espargaro who were faster in the twisty parts of the circuit but I was stronger in braking areas. I'm really happy with this result. Now we go to Valencia with more margin to win the top ten in the World Championship.”
