Sebastien Buemi will start on pole for today’s Beijing ePrix ahead of his Renault eDams teammate Nico Prost. Buemi’s time of 1:37.2 was 0.2s ahead of his teammate.
Heidfeld, Di Grassi, and Vergne were all in contention for the super-pole shootout. Vergne suffered a huge lockup into turn one however ruled him out of contention.
Di Grassi had a messy lap and couldn’t quite make the inroads that he had hoped whilst Nick Heidfeld in Mahindra’s M2Electro set a clean lap to finish in P3. The German was pleased with this performance considering their pace in Donington.
Elsewhere in the field, the NEXTEV drivers will start towards the back of the field with reigning champion Nelson Piquet on the back of the grid.
The Trulli cars did not run today after their car failed to get submitted for scrutineering following a customs hold-up with some powertrain components.
Buemi’s time also marks a new lap record for Formula E at Beijing setting a mammoth five seconds faster than Prosts 2014 pole time.
