The Trulli teams’ cars will not feature at the season opening Beijing ePrix after their entry, the Motomatica JT01, was not submitted for scrutineering.
Key components relating to the cars’ powertrain were held at customs, and regrettably, they did not arrived in time for the scrutineering process even after an extension was granted via the FIA.
Trulli driver Vitantonio Liuzzi spoke to Motorsport.com “It is a difficult situation but now Malaysia remains our new target and team is working hard to get things together.
“After Donington we knew it couldn’t be easy. But at the moment we don’t have all the materials to get on track. The package will be quite strong eventually and I think there is some potential ahead of us.”
There is the potential for the Trulli team to face sanctions; under Formula E Sporting Regulations should a team “fail to operate their team in a manner compatible with the standards of the Championship or in any way bring the sport into disrepute” then the team could be excluded from the championship altogether.
It’s difficult times for the Trulli team whose late appearance in testing caused them to have very little running around Donington Park.
