Formula E Set to Remain at Battersea Park

The season two double-header finale of the Formula E championship looks set to stay at Battersea Park and will take place on July 2 and 3.

An agreement was reached between Formula E Holdings (FEH) and Wandsworth Council which, as reported by Motorsport.com, was a settlement to change the date of the ePrix from its original 25 and 26 June spot.

The new date, that will have to be ratified by the World Motor Sport Council, has been moved in order to prevent a clash with the British Grand Prix and the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge running event.

There is an opt-out clause which is valid until November 2 and successful analysis has been done after a review into the first seasons’ London ePrix has taken place.

Paul McCue, Assistant director of Leisure and Culture at Wandsworth Council, spoke to Motorsport.com earlier this week.

“In light of the considerable response to the consultation exercise , the Council needs more time to properly analyse the results in order to inform a fair and balanced decision on the matter.

“That being so, the review report was not considered at the September 22 meeting of the Community Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee (our original plan) and we will need to set an alternative date.”
