Braking Issues Continue To Hinder Dovizioso

Andrea Dovizioso left Aragon disappointed after another tricky weekend. The Italian was a mystifyingly 13th in qualifying, but managed to fight his way through the pack to finish the race fifth.
A decent result on the face of it, but Dovizioso was nearly twenty seconds behind injured team-mate Andrea Iannone. The problem for the Italian is the braking; Dovi is famed for his late braking and it is what his riding style is built upon, but the GP15 is not allowing him to exploit this and he is struggling as a result.
Ducati's season started off great, almost too great as they seem to have stayed still whilst the others have streaked clear, something Dovizioso himself has claimed. The fundamental problem of the Desmosedici – understeer – has been resolved, but the bike has become a little heavier to turn-in as a result. But these are just little niggles that are close to being sorted out, according to the Italian.
“Let's say that I am pleased and not pleased at the same time. With the race pace that I had, I think I managed to bring home the best possible result, but this doesn't make me happy. For sure we have to work to improve the bike, because I am unable to brake and ride the way I want, and as a result I am not as fast as I would like to be. If I look at today's race however, considering that I was starting from thirteenth on the grid, finishing fifth is a good result.”
