Formula E to Place Limit on Driver Changes

As of season two, Formula E teams will be limited to just two driver changes per car; the announcement of a change also has to be made two weeks in advance of the event.

This will be welcome news to fans who have criticised the number of changes made in season one. The 2014/15 season saw 30 drivers take part with Andretti fielding the most with eight in total.

There will also be a bar on driver changes at the final three rounds of the season in a bid to prevent any conflict for a championship battle. However, in the event of Force Majeure, if a driver is unable to take part then a change can be permitted by the stewards.

Any new drivers competing in Formula E must also comply with mandatory e-License system which gives specific training on electrical safety, Formula E technical and sporting regulations, and also must have acquired 20 points in three previous seasons of an FIA championship.
