Moto3 championship leader Danny Kent has confirmed he will race in Moto2 in 2016 as opposed to the premier class.
The British rider will move up to the middle tier for 2016 as part of the new Leopard Racing Moto2 team. The decision will see Kent transition with his current Moto3 crew at Leopard Racing and will join fellow Moto3 rider Miguel Oliveira at the new team in 2016.
Speaking to motogp.com, Kent described his delight at moving up to the intermediate class with the same team: "I'm really happy to sign for Leopard Racing in 2016 for Moto2. We've experienced a great season this year so I'm really excited to start our challenge in the intermediate category. A massive thank you to all people in the team for believing in me and I'm pretty sure that we also can have a great season in 2016 together."
The news was announced prior to the Aragon Grand Prix which saw the Moto3 title leader crash out of third place with a dramatic last corner high side just moments after Kent witnessed his championship rival Enea Bastianini fall two corners earlier on the last lap. Kent holds a 55 point lead in the championship with just four races remaining.
