Non-executive of Mercedes Niki Lauda confirmed to Sky Sports F1 that the German manufacturer will be powering the Manor F1 team in 2016.
“We will supply [Manor] with engines for next season,” he said.
With the engine deal, Mercedes are expected to give their F1 reserve and DTM driver Pascal Wehrlein a seat in the Manor alongside Alexander Rossi.
It is also rumoured that Williams will be designing a chassis for Manor for 2016.
Mercedes were waiting on Renault’s potential buy out of Lotus to cut their engine deal with the Enstone outlet. Now that the Manor deal has been announced, that would give a strong indication that the takeover deal has been settled, and is only left to be officially announced.
