Mid-Race FanBoost Voting for Season Two

Fans will now have the ability to vote for their favourite driver during a Formula E race in a change to the sports’ FanBoost concept. Previously, the three drivers with the most votes would had the ability to use a five second boost per car during the race, but now the votes will occur in real-time.

As of the season opener in Beijing on the 24 October, FanBoost will remain open for the first six minutes of the race. The voting will also be open through newer channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram using a specific hashtag.

The winning drivers of the FanBoost vote will only be able to use the boost in their second car after they have made their mid-race car swap.

Ali Russell, Director of Media and Strategic Partnerships at Formula E feels that this will be a great increase for fan interactivity.

“FanBoost is a uniquely fan engaging element of our series and by being able to vote during the race the level of engagement will increase significantly, creating a real-time relationship between drivers, teams and fans.”

This year, FanBoost will provide an extra 100kj of power to be used; the race power of the engines has increased for this year moving from 150kw to 170kw.
