WEC 2016 Calendar Revealed

Coming to the Circuit Of The Americas on of the biggest and most anticipated pieces of news was the release of the 2016 calendar. Different from last year, there will be nine races next year, seeing the addition of the six hours of Mexico. There is also a shuffle of the race dates, closing the two month gap that was between the prestigious Le Mans rae and the forth round of the championship.

Since the sport's beginning in 2012, the championship has slowing been expanding. With interest from high key drivers such as the Formula One drivers the interest for Endurance racing has increased. This is what has lead to the addition of Mexico City for next year. With the revival of the circuit for the Formula One calednar it has come at the perfect time to add another american circuit to the calendar. Mexcio will be two weeks ahead of the Lone Star Le Mans.

The calendar for 2016 can be seen below:

April 17 - Silverstone (GB)

May 7 - Spa-Francorchamps (B)

June 18/19 - Le Mans 24 Hours (F)

July 24 - Nurburgring (D)

September 4 - Mexico City (MEX)

September 17 - Austin (USA) October 16 - Fuji (J)

November 6 - Shanghai (PRC)

November 19 - Sakhir (BH)
