Kent Steals Top Spot in Friday Practice

Moto3 championship leader Danny Kent finished Friday Practice on top at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli with a final fast lap of the day.

The British rider took advantage of ideal conditions in the second practice session to be one of only a few of the top riders to improve in FP2 from the first session. Kent set a 1m43.097s lap which was only just ahead of FP1 pacesetter Enea Bastianini who finished the day second overall (0.036s behind) and Romano Fenati third (only 0.074 slower than Kent).

The day proved painful for the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team as first Jorge Navarro (pole sitter at last round at Silverstone) crashed in FP1 at turn 12 and had to be taken to the Cesena Trauma Centre as he required treatment following an injury to his shoulder. Then in FP2, Navarro's French teammate Fabio Quartararo fractured his right ankle at turn 15 and as a result was declared unfit to race this weekend. A decision on Navarro's fitness for the remainder of the weekend will follow on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Niccolo Antonelli impressed once again with fourth place overall just ahead of Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder who were separated by just one thousandth of a second. Efren Vazquez, who has been largely overshadowed by his championship leading teammate, ended the day in seventh but over half a second slower than Kent with his fellow Leopard Racing colleague Hiroki Ono in eighth.
