Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson has been given a three place grid penalty for tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix for blocking Nico Hulkenberg in the first part of qualifying.
The German was on his first flying lap heading into the Parabolica corner at the end of the lap when the Swede had slowed on the entry on his warm up lap. His defence was that the team hadn’t informed him that a faster car was approaching from behind.
Due to the infringement, he received a three place grid penalty and two points on his licence which means he is now up to seven points.
