Pedrosa: “All the Day I Did Not Have A Very Good Feeling With the Bike”

Dani Pedrosa was destined to have a rather tricky British Grand Prix following the free practice sessions. Despite a brilliant lap in qualifying that saw him jump onto the front row, the Spaniard's race pace wasn't as strong as that of team-mate Marc Marquez' or Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo. He even admitted to me following qualifying that he was lacking something to the top two.
Pedrosa has had a mixed relationship with wet conditions, but struggles far less nowadays than he used to. But he still wasn't able to beat the the likes of Rossi and Lorenzo, and instead had to settle for 5th. The problem for Dani was that the Honda just wasn't working well in the rain, stating that he just couldn't find any grip.
“I was riding there in the group, at one point I could overtake Jorge (Lorenzo) and I was 4th I think. But, in general, all the day I did not have a very good feeling with the bike. Even in the warm up I was very slow, I didn't really have any grip on the braking especially on the entry.
“But then for the race we change the bike a little bit, so when I start the race I was not so confident. So I lost there a little bit. I was not as aggressive, but every time you try to push a little harder the rear just wants to kick out and it was so, so difficult. Every time you moved one metre on the track the rear was very difficult to control. I tried to push, but every time I couldn't really go to the limit and at the end, when the rain arrive more strong, I was more slow.”
