Duran - We’re going to be one of the best powertrains in the series

The Trulli Formula E team only made it on track at Donington on the final day of testing, and only managed seven laps overall. However, the team are still confident they can be competitive this year.
“Well it’s a new powertrain,” said Trulli driver Salvador Duran, “It seems easy when you look at it but when you see how the engineers are developing the new software, the new stuff and how difficult it is to do all the little stuff, is when you realise it’s not easy at all.
“So I think the engineers are just trying to find the best solution for all the little problems that are coming. Instead of putting so many laps in at testing, we’re trying to just find all the little mistakes and get ready for the first race.
“If we’re risking it, it’s because we think we have something better than most, so we’ll see. Time is going to say if we’re right or not.
“I think the people behind it are very experience people. I think Technomatic and the new company that they formed with Trulli, Motomatica, I think these guys have so many running engines already through the whole planet that are working really well, that I don’t see why this one is not going to work. So for sure, it’s going to take time, with a couple of months only working on the project is difficult, but I know they will put out something very good that I think we’re going to be one of the best powertrains in the series.”
Andretti were another team struggling with their season two powertrain. We found out on the final day of the test that they had reverted back to their season one powertrain. However, a switch to the old powertrain is not an option for Trulli.
“As long as I’m concerned, we’re not going back,” Duran said, “We’re going to push until the end, and we’re going to run a risk, and that’s it.”
But with such limited running, Trulli remain the biggest mystery going into Formula E’s second season. It remains to be seen as to whether or not the car can even do the distance required in a race.
“We have to work really hard for that, it isn’t going to be easy but, for sure, we’re going to do that.”
