Scott Dixon took victory in the 85-lap GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma, meaning he finished the season tied on points with Juan-Pablo Montoya, but it was Dixon who took the title as his three wins trumped Montoya's two.
Dixon started the race in 9th place but fought his way to the top step of the podium. Montoya, who came into this weekend with a a 47 point lead, came home 6th, following contact with his championship rival and teammate Will Power.
Ryan Hunter-Reay and Charlie Kimball finished off the podium. Orion Servia came home 12th, driving the late Justin Wilson's car as a tribute to the Brit who lost his life following an incident last weekend. James Jakes was the only retiree.
