Rebecca Evans AM, the Deputy Minister for Farming and Food, has granted the S16 application to the Heads of the Valleys Development Company to build the Circuit of Wales so long as HOTVDC complete previously agreed conditions in relation to the commoners' rights.
“Having considered the application I am minded to grant the application but I feel that I can not make a formal decision until the rights of the commoners which are presently registered as rights of common exercisable over the release land have been deregistered”, Evans stated.
Chief Executive of HOTVDC said: “We thank the Minister for her willingness to grant the S16 application, subject to us fulfilling the prior agreements with the commoners as explained within the application. This is an important step in the process to de-register the common land and we will continue to work towards a successful conclusion in 2015.”
The project is set t cost £315 million and is said to create 4000-6000 jobs, most of which being sourced to the local area. It remains to be seen as to whether the circuit ever does come to materialise, but this is certainly a positive sign.
