Bradley Smith:
What changed to allow you to find that extra time in FP2?
“Yeah, I mean a lot of it came down to the track. The track improved a little bit this afternoon, the track rubbered in and cleaned up a little bit. This morning was really green and obviously track temperatures helped quite a lot, and you know just a couple of small changes in terms of balance. A lot of it came from the track, it's a high-speed nature track; if you're five per cent off it makes a big difference. So nothing really special, but, you know, certainly nice to be in 3rd position.”
And now you know what you're doing for the future.
“The nicest thing for me is it's out there (contract news). It's done, signed, sealed and I think the last two rounds have been quite quite challenging for me, emotionally, to be dealing with that kind of talk because at the end of the day this is my job, this is my passion. So when you're doing those kinds of meetings and trying to nail down the things you feel passionately about it finally gets to you. But it's nice to be in a situation where everything is clear and everyone is really happy to continue – it looks like fans are happy for me to continue with the Tech 3 Team.
“It'll be tough to stay in this position, but we are starting from a good point.”
What will you change for FP3?
“To be honest there is not a lot that we can change. There are small details, but with FP3 you have to take it with a pinch of salt. I think FP4 will give us more of an indication as it is at race time.”
Pol Espargaro:
What is the outlook for qualifying? Top two rows?
“Well qualifying will be difficult here, especially here as the weather is not looking very good, and when the temperature is dropping the guys with the soft tyre have such an advantage. So tomorrow will be a difficult day for us. I think it will be difficult to be on Q2 (pace) directly but we have to give 200 per cent because, if the temperature drops, it looks like it will be like this. The Ducatis and the two Suzukis will have a lot of advantage, so we'll see what we can do.”
