Fenati Tops Moto3 Second Practice

Romano Fenati topped the second free practice ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

The Italian, who has had some poor Friday's off late blighted with crashes, had a clean session and finished the day fastest of all with a lap of 2m14.459s to be quicker by 0.110s from Niccolo Antonelli. Alexis Masbou finished third but was three tenths further adrift in a close fight with Jorge Navarro (who had topped first practice). Isaac Vinales continued his strong start to the weekend with a solid 5th place having replaced Niklas Ajo for the remainder of the season.

Home favourite Danny Kent was able to complete the session without any further mechanical problems following the oil issue that nullified his FP1 running. The championship leader finished the session in 6th place, three quarters of a second behind Fenati. Meanwhile, it was title rival Enea Bastianini's turn to suffer a bad session after crashing out at Brooklands. The Italian's bike was unsettled heading into the fast left-hander as the front-end struggled over the bumps and the bike folded underneath. Bastianini escaped unhurt and able to return to the pits but finished a lowly 26th after being unable to retake to the track.

The other British riders had a slightly improved second session with John McPhee finishing 14th just 1.3 seconds off the top. Taz Taylor ended in 30th ahead of some more experienced riders of Ferrari and Suzuki with fellow Brit Luke Hedger last of all in 36th position.
