Virgin Racing star and London ePrix winner Sam Bird came out on top in a wet and windy day five of Formula E testing at Donington Park.

The Briton posted a laptime of 1:30.451 and is the only driver to do so not racing for Renault eDams or ABT Schaeffler.

Bird set his time early and nobody was able to compete as the rain increased throughout the afternoon.

Lucas di Grassi was 0.3s behind in P2 whilst Loic Duval was a further half second back in P3.

It was a disappointing day for Andretti and Trulli who completed no running; the latter confirming ex-Aguri man Salvador Duran to partner Tonio Liuzzi at the team.

Dutch Formula Renault 3.5 Champion Robin Frijns was present in the Andretti garage today and will be piloting the car tomorrow in the final day of testing.
