Pramac Racing boss Francesco Guidotti confirmed yesterday that a three-year deal is on offer to Moto3 championship leader Danny Kent to come into MotoGP with the Italian sqaud next year.
This comes just one week after it was revealed that talks between fellow British racer Cal Crutchlow, currently with LCR Honda, and Ducati were made about a potential return to the factory for Crutchlow in Pramac colours.
But this deal looks to have fallen through, according to some paddock insiders.
It was also rumoured that Kent may be heading back to Moto2 with Leopard Racing as they expand their Grand Prix involvement. But some have suggested that this would be unwise given his previous strife within the class back in 2013 which nearly curtailed his career.
In an interview with motorcycle racing news outlet bikesportnews.com, Guidotti stated: “We have contact, we spoke with Danny and it is an option. He is making his decision because of course it is a big step but as a technical package it is very interesting. It is clear that if he comes he has to be convinced 100 per cent. A decision is on the way. It is a long-term agreement because a young rider that comes from Moto3 cannot be formed in one year.”
Guidotti also mentioned that there were “other options”, with the rumour mill suggesting that Moto2 standings leader Johann Zarco is another candidate.
A decision on Kent's future is expected before his home round at Silverstone in two weeks time. If Kent is to join the Pramac team then it will be Yonny Hernandez who will be making way, as Danilo Petrucci is all but officially confirmed for next year. Hernandez will be shifted to the Avintia squad, with whom he made his Grand Prix début in 2012, and Mike Di Meglio will be sent seeking for alternative employment.
