Folger springs a surprise in FP3

Germany's Jonas Folger claimed top spot in FP3 with a last minute effort to dispose Tito Rabat who led the rest of the session.

Folger had slowly improved through the session and with the chequered flag falling the lap got quicker throughout and eventually topped the times with a 2m02.019 just one tenth shy of the pole position record set by Rabat in 2014. However, defending Moto2 World Champion Tito Rabat yet again showed ominous race pace with a 10 lap run consistently in the mid to low 2m02's and seemed to be a few tenths quicker than his rival's equivalent.

Elsewhere, Indy GP winner Alex Rins finished in third place just 0.3seconds down on Folger ahead of Morbidelli. Luis Salom impressed after a quiet first half of the season and finished the session in 5th place only half a second adrift with Luthi and Lowes just behind. Championship leader Johann Zarco was a respectable 8th but will be concerned by the gap of 0.8s to rival Tito Rabat.

Moto2 Qualifying gets underway at 14:05 UK time.
