Pol Espargaro will remain with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team after reaching an agreement with Yamaha to extend his contract by a year.
The Spaniard stepped up to the premier class with Yamaha, riding in Tech 3 colours, last season and has produced some impressive performances. He was top Satellite rider at the end of last season and qualified on the front row at Le Mans.
Two weeks ago he, alongside Tech 3 team-mate Bradley Smith, won the prestigious Suzuka 8-hour race for Yamaha – the first for the factory in 19 years.
It is expected that Smith will be announced alongside Espargaro for next season very soon.
Elsewhere on the rider market, Cal Crutchlow has been linked with a shock return to Ducati for the 2016 season. The Briton, who left the factory squad at the end of last year after a difficult campaign, has been rumoured to be close to signing a full factory deal that would see him aboard a GP16 but in Pramac colours. With CWM LCR Honda uncertain of their financial future, and no one within the Crutchlow camp reportedly denying these claims, this rumour seems to be fairly plausible.
