F1 Mid-Season Review: Manor - From the ashes

I know I speak for the entirety of the Formula One community when I say it was great to see Marussia survive their 2014 financial troubles and that they would be on the grid this year. I must commend Graeme Lowdon, John Booth and everyone else involved in getting the car on track. Given their situation, getting their foot in the door very late in the day, next to no testing and second hand parts, they have done a fantastic job.

Their drivers Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi have done the team justice. Despite their young age they have driven very maturely, saving the team precious money on spare front wings. Both seem to be on equal performance with the pair running nose-to-tail all race long, it seems, albeit some 4.5 seconds off the pace.

But Manor have proven this year that they have no intention of being at the back for too long. Major updates brought in Barcelona and Silverstone have brought them a step closer to the midfield pack, with another large performance boost intended for Spa. Where this will leave them, however, remains to be seen.
