Athina Forward Racing will miss the upcoming Indianapolis Grand Prix as a result of the arrest of team principal Giovanni Cuzari last week. The Italian was taken into police custody after it emerged that he had allegedly been involved in tax avoidance.

This has led the team's sponsors to withhold their money, which means the team have no way of financing the tenth round of the 2015 MotoGP World Championship. The team's managing director, Marco Curioni, has stated that he is hopeful of competing at the Czech round as IRTA and sponsors of the team look close to arranging something.

“It was a very difficult week for the Forward Racing. Only in the last hours have we glimpsed the real possibility of overcome the situation. I hope to have Giovanni soon with us and available to find a solution.

In this dark moment, several 'partners' and 'friends' have understandably distanced himself from the team and then for this reason I want to thank those who are helping us; Dorna and IRTA gave us full support from the beginning, all members of the team that they gave their unconditional support and those sponsors and new companies – that despite the objective concern – gave us confidence and are interpreting the meaning of sponsorship in the original reason; financial aid to allow the athlete to realise his talent.”
