Pirelli look set to be hosting a wet weather test at Paul Ricard in January, part of its plan of improving the wet weather rubber for the 2016 season.
The test is expected to be held on the 25-26 Janaury, and has been helped by the late start to the season, two weeks later than normal and the reduction of preseason testing from 12 days to 8. Paul Ricard has a sprinkler system which will be an improvement over what they tried to do in Jerez, where they had to use a tractor and didn’t really have the same results.
All the teams have been invited by Pirelli, but they have confirmed they could do the test with just one car, although it must be of 2015 spec and not have any upgrades tested for the new season.
Teams are also looking into slotting in two inseason tests, but due to the tighter calendar it is proving difficult to find a compromise.
