Vandoorne fastest in GP2 free practice

The GP2 championship resumed today with as the drivers took to the track in free practice at the Hungaroring. Championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne topped the timesheets with a 1:28.969.

Silverstone Sprint Race winner Rio Haryanto finished second fastest with a 1:29.384, whilst rookie Alex Lynn finished third with a time of 1:29.499.

Stoffel Vandoorne's closest title rival Alex Rossi finished 11th, followed by King, Nato, de Jong, Leal, Stanaway, Matsushita, Visoiu, Binder, Markelov, Berthon, Stockinger, Canamasas, Amberg, Lafiti and Gelael.

Qualifying for the feature race takes place this afternoon, following second practice for the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix. Vandoorne has to be considered favourite for pole following his impressive time this morning, but you never know what might happen in GP2. We will have a report on qualifying on the site this afternoon.
