Danny Kent heads into this afternoon's qualifying session for the 2015 Moto3 Grand Prix of Germany as the man to beat having dominated the final free practice session f the weekend. The Briton took his Leopard Racing Honda to a record lap time of 1:26.174 in the closing six-minutes of the 45-minute session, going seven-tenths quicker than the rest.
Fabio Quartararo was 2nd quickest and the Frenchman is looking like a dark horse for the race on Sunday, which is impressive given his inexperience at the track. The EG 0,0 Honda rider posted a lap of 1:26.793. Efren Vazquez completed the top three and looks as though he has rediscovered his early season form.
A team looking rejuvenated is Racing Team Germany. Alexis Masbou won the season opening Qatar Grand Prix but has since struggled massively. This morning he was 4th fastest whilst team-mate John McPhee completed the top five. They would love to turn their seasons around in front of the team's home crowd.
Karel Hanika was top KTM rider but almost a second down on Kent's fastest time, suggesting that the KTM is not working as well here relative to the Honda as it appeared yesterday. Team-mate Bard Binder was a disappointing 12th at a track he goes very well around.
One man enjoying his homecoming is Philipp Oettl of Schedl GP. The German heads into qualifying staring at a potential second row start which would be his best qualifying since Aragon 2013.
Romano Fenati was 8th, Darryn Binder an impressive 9th and Enea Bastianii 10th.
Juanfran Guevara's session came to a sickening halt when he high-sided coming out of the final corner right at the end of the session. Maria Herrera also had a crash but suffered minimal damage.
