Tyco BMW rider and popular television personality Guy Martin will take to the legendary Salt Flats of Bonneville in the United States of America to try and break the land speed record for motorcycles.

Martin will team up with Triumph and ride a streamlined, 1000bhp, double turbocharged Rocket III powered monster at the end of August, and it will be filmed for Channel 4.

The record currently stands at 376.363mph, but the team aim to try and break the 400mph mark.

In an interview with the Scunthorpe Telegraph, Guy said this: “I like going fast. So pushing 400mph sounds like just the job. Breaking the world land speed record isn't normally the sort of thing you get offered in your tea break is it and I'm well up for it. Bringing the record back to Britain would be mega too. Spot on, lets get cracking!”
