Since the draft calendar was leaked that indicated that the Formula One season wouldn’t start until April it hasn’t been clear if it was just a negotiation tactic aimed at forcing more races into the season.

This week it has become clear that the season could well start later with provisional winter testing dates leaked by the German media. 2016 will see only two winter test sessions, and will lose the early session in Jerez, just concentrating on the two tests in Barcelona. They will also come two weeks later than usual 1-4 March and 15-18 March 2016.

The Australian Grand Prix has been pencilled in for the 3rd April, which fits within that schedule and if correct could see the teams given an extra month to work on their cars before testing.
