Ferrari are looking to sign Williams star Valtteri Bottas according to a report by German magazine Bild.

Speculation has gone up a gear in recent weeks given the poor performances by Kimi Raikkonen, especially in Canada and Austria. New Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene has yet to confirm the Finn for 2016, instead saying it would be reviewed nearer the end of the season.

In the meantime they are said to be chasing fellow Finn Bottas, although he does have an option with Williams for 2016 which they would like to retain. Given that Ferrari have made an offer to both Bottas and Williams, according to Bild, to buy him out of the contract.

They suggest Ferrari have offered $4m to Williams for Bottas, although they have suggested that Deputy Team Principal Clare Williams’ counter offer was in the region of $16m.

Nico Hulkenberg would be favourite to replace him at Williams according to the German newspaper. They claim Ferrari wouldn’t want two German drivers, ruling him out of the Ferrari drive.
