RC Express Racing Kawasaki rider Ivan Lintin took his first ever Isle of Man TT after victory in the Lightweight TT. Lintin took the lead almost immediately, holding a 2.13-second gap by the end of the opening lap. He then extended that on the next tour of the 37.75-mile circuit to 4.24-seconds.

With main rival Ryan Farquhar encountering mechanical woes with his KMR Kawasaki and retiring at Cronk-y-Voddy straight on the second lap, Lintin's win looked without doubt.

Or did it?

Quattro Plant Kawasaki's James Hillier mounted a late charge, bringing the gap down to 3.9-seconds by the end of the second lap. Hillier pulled a few more tenths on Lintin but it was futile and Hillier had to settle for 2nd. Hillier broke the lap record at 120.848mph on the final lap in his attempts to close down Lintin.

Michael Rutter completed the rostrum on the Paton, continuing the good form the road racing veteran has shown this week. James Cowton and Jamie Hamilton completed the top five.

The 650cc Supertwin machines run in the lightweight class go through a real workout over the course of their 3-lap contest, and as a result not every rider makes it to the full race distance. Martin Jessop's day ended after just a few hundred metres when his bike conked out at Bray Hill on the opening lap. Gary Johnson's race was halted after one lap with mechanical issues and he was joined on the sidelines by Lee Johnston on the final lap.
