Vinales: We are so happy

A stunning performance will see Maverick Vinales start second on the grid for the Catalan Grand Prix. With a time just 0.083s of his teammate, Vinales is hoping for a strong race, but admits it will be difficult to stay in a strong position.

“We were so close to pole! Honestly we are so happy, we’re working really hard. Since Mugello we’ve made a big step, we have a bit of advantage with the tyres but you still need to push hard and go a little crazy to make the lap time in Qualifying. We know we have a good race pace but we need to work more towards the end of the race. I will go at 100%, I want to fight with the top guys because I will learn so much.”

“The pace was really good on the hard tyre. But the race tomorrow will be hot and 25 laps won’t be easy. We have to gather more experience and information by fighting with the top guys.”
