Kent Impresses In FP2

Danny Kent ended the first day of the Catalan Grand Prix fastest after setting the best time of the weekend in FP2. The Leopard Racing Honda rider put in a lap of 1:51.637 right at the end of the session. Kent spent some time at the top of the time sheets, setting fast laps without the use of a tow which is suggesting that he has the pace to break away at the front come the race.

But the slipstream will be very critical here and one rider proving that was Alessandro Tonucci, who managed 3rd right at the drop of the flag thanks to a tow from the KTM of Miguel Oliveira. The Outox Reset Drink Mahindra rider will hoping to replicate that tomorrow as currently his best qualifying this season has been 20th.

Niccolo Antonelli held top spot in the closing seconds but was knocked back to 2nd by Kent. Still, the Italian will happy with that.

Livio Loi had another strong session in 4th, whilst Enea Bastianini finished a respectable 5th. The Gresini Honda rider crashed at the start of FP1 and lost the session to bike damage.

Miguel Oliveira was 6th quickest on the Red Bull KTM Ajo machine, with Fabio Quartararo, Jorge Navarro, Hiroki Ono and Philipp Oettl completing the top ten. Oettl was particularly impressive having gone 2nd fastest for a time, and like Kent that lap was one without a tow.
