Former F1 driver Robert Kubica has publicly backed Fernando Alonso's move to McLaren, despite the Woking team experiencing an awful season.

There are lots of people of the opinion that Alonso's move was the wrong decision, especially with the performance of his former team Ferrari in 2015.

Kubica said, "Any person, and especially a driver, needs new challenges. When Fernando went to Ferrari, everyone including myself expected him to win titles. But it wasn't like that."

"So he has had to find new ideas and a different way. What he has now is a huge challenge, but like any great challenge, when you make it to the finish line there is an even great satisfaction."

"It's a risk, but he is one of the strongest drivers, if not the strongest driver there has been in recent years."
