New Jersey race back on radar

Talks have restarted over the Canadian Grand Prix weekend to resurrect the abandoned New Jersey race according to motorsport.com.
The New Jersey race was originally on the calendar in 2013, but was withdrawn following a lack of funding. The pit complex had already been built, and the track layout designed with the majority of the circuit facing the New York skyline.
Even though Bernie Ecclestone aimed to kickstart the project with a loan the race has failed to get enough funding to make it viable.
In an effort to kickstart things again promoter Lean Hindery met with Ecclestone at the Canadian race. While a 2016 race doesn’t look possible, a longer term solution could be on the cards if funding is available.
Ecclestone told Motorsport.com: “He’d like to see that race happen. We’ll have a look and see what we can do for him.”
Having a race in New York has long been an ambition for Ecclestone, and that is believed to be the reason for his perseverance with the project.
With viewing figures increasing in North America it could certainly be more possible now than ever.
