The Isle of Man TT is one of the most dangerous sporting events in the world, but standards in safety have improved dramatically over the decades. That, however, doesn't stop serious incidents from still happening and sadly one brave hero won't be returning home from the island this year.

French rider Franck Petricola tragically lost his life on Wednesday night following a crash at the Sulby Crossroads section of the 37.75-mile mountain course.

Petricola was making his début at the TT this year after recovering from serious injury sustained at last year's North West 200 which meant he missed the event in 2014.

Everyone at The Becketts Blog sends their deepest sympathies to Franck's loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
