Ferrari and Honda are set to imminently use some of their allocation of engine tokens for this season, as earlier rumoured.
It was said a while ago that Ferrari was planning a large upgrade for the Canadian Grand Prix, the first of the power tracks followed quickly by Austria, with rumours suggesting that elements of the engine upgrade were tested during the winter, although Sauber have said this is not the case.
Motorsport.com has seen a document which has confirmed that Ferrari has used 3 of their tokens, while Honda have used two, which leaves them seven each for the rest of the season. Although it is not known what upgrades Honda have done to their engine, it is said that Ferrari have changed the design of their cylinder heads.
Both teams had been reluctant to say when the upgrades will be introduced, although it would be surprising if they were not introduced at either Canada or Austria.
McLaren are also expected to bring a large upgrade to their car at Austria, just in time for the second of the inseason tests.
