McLaren boss Ron Dennis has suggested that the businesses of Denmark power the F1 return of Kevin Magnussen. The Dane, who raced for the Woking team in 2014, is currently the reserve driver for the team but faces stiff competition from GP2 starlet Stoffel Vandoorne should a McLaren become available in the future.

Dennis, on a visit to Denmark accompanied by Magnussen, urged Danish companies to financially support a 'national hero'. He added "When teams are choosing between these young drivers, unfortunately it's not only about their talent. It's also about the support they have from companies or countries."

"Kevin will succeed with out without your help, but it's just a much bigger challenge for him when his opponents are young people from countries with huge support."

When asked a potential race seat for 2016, Dennis replied "I think Kevin has the ability to race next year. At the same time, he also knows that we live in the real world. I have two World Champions who are among the very best. So he has to prove himself."
