Rabat On Record Pace In FP2

Tito Rabat was on record pace in FP2 after posting the fastest ever lap of the Mugello circuit on a Moto2 bike – a 1:52.311. The Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Kalex rider was on typically consistent form with a total of 23 laps under his belt.
Rabat wasn't leagues apart from the rest of the field however. Johann Zarco was only one-thousandth of a second behind on the Ajo Motorsport Kalex. The French rider holds a 21-point lead in the standings and will be hoping to increase that on Sunday.
Sam Lowes was fastest this morning, and looked fast in the afternoon. He was 3rd quickest on the Speed Up Racing machine and just two-tenths behind the leading duo. Qualifying is set up nicely.
Tom Luthi was fastest in the early part of FP2, but fell to 4th by the end of the 45-minute session. The Swiss rider has shown great consistency thus far, and will be desperate to continue his winning form from Le Mans this weekend. Simone Corsi completed the top five, whilst team-mate Lorenzo Baldassarri crashed in the final ten-minutes and ended up 11th on the Forward Racing Kalex.
Takaaki Nakagami returned to form in France last time out, and looks like he is continuing this revival this weekend after clocking the 6th fastest time of the weekend in FP2. Whether he can hang on to that come Sunday remains to be seen, but it would certainly be a welcome result for the popular Japanese rider.
Axel Pons was top AGR rider in 7th, with Alex Rins, Sandro Cortese and Xavier Simeon completing the top ten.
