Door remains open for Indian GP

Bernie Ecclestone has reiterated that he is happy for the return of the Indian Grand Prix, but is waiting for the promoters to get back to him for a race in 2016.
The Indian Grand Prix has been missing from the calendar since 2013. Although the track was well received by drivers, customs and imports as well as visas were difficult, and the transport to and from the track challenging.
“I hope we have a race in India next year. I am waiting for the promoters to come back to me,” he told the Press Trust of India.
“We will do whatever is needed to make sure India is back. There are no added challenges to the event.
“We just need the Jaypee Group to say that ‘we are happy to carry on’ and we can revive the existing contract.”
Adding India to the mix for 2016, although absent from the draft calendar recently leaked would add further pressure to the timetabling and the suggestion of starting the season later. There wouldn’t be any room on the draft to suggest an Indian race, unless that was just designed to push both India and Korea who have race contracts which are not being fulfilled.
