Since former double MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner announced that he'd be riding for Honda at the Suzuk 8-hour endurance race this year speculation has been rife regarding Yamaha's entry. It was rumoured that both Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo could ride, but Yamaha have today put those mutterings to bed. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 riders Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith, alongside four-time Japanese Superbike champion Katsuyuki Nakasuga, will contest this year's event on the brand new YZF-R1 Superbike – the first time since 2002 Yamaha have entered as a factory outfit. Yamaha will be hoping the experience of Nakasuga on the Japanese circuits and the Grand Prix expertise of the Tech 3 duo will bring them their fifth Suzuka 8-hour win, which would be their first for 19 years. The event takes place from July 23-26.
