'Grid guys' make an appearance in Monaco

The Monaco Grand Prix started unusually with a break from tradition, replacing the familiar ‘Grid Girls’ with ‘Grid Guys’.
The initiative was backed by watch manufacturer Tag Heuer and comes on the back of the same thing happening in the World Endurance Championship earlier this season.
Although Sebastian Vettel commented on it at the very end of the top three press conference on Sunday afternoon – “Why didn’t we have any grid girls today. What was that?”, the idea has come with near universal praise.
The idea that only girls should hold the drivers name on the grid is now seen as quite outdated, and this weekend could pave a new way the grid staff are employed. This could even mean a mix of men or women, or in some circumstances even children.
Any move to the mainstream within the sports industry can only been seen as a positive one.
