Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta and Managing Director of Events Javier Alonso met with members from the Indonesian Government and the Sentul Circuit yesterday to discuss the possibility of the country hosting a round of the MotoGP World Championship from 2017. According to Ezpeleta, if the necessary changes to the circuit are made then the race is there's. “The goal is achievable for the country to host MotoGP. But, Indonesia will have the race if they fulfil all the requirements. “The Sentul Circuit needs much improvement. We have seen many circuits that host and do a lot of changes. Is it possible for Indonesia to improve or build new circuit? We hope the government could follow-up on this immediately. The sure thing is we will provide the necessary support to make the event a success.” Ezpeleta stated recently that a race in this region of the world was being considered, with a race in Thailand rumoured to be on the cards too. If all goes to plan then we could be racing at the Sentul Circuit from 2017 until 2021, which will be the first time a Grand Prix in Indonesia has taken place since 1997.
