The streets of Pau undoubtedly belonged to Jake Dennis in the first race of the third 2015 FIA Formula 3 championship weekend, who claimed his maiden win of the series on Saturday morning. Leading from pole position right up until the flag, Dennis kept the chasing cars of Antonio Giovinazzi, who had made an excellent start from fourth on the grid, and Charles Leclerc at bay to ultimately cross the line 0.68 seconds adrift from his rivals. After 12 laps, there was a safety car for the stopped Signature car of Dorian Boccolacci, which was swiftly followed by yet another yellow flag period as a result of a crash for Michele Berretta. There was time for another 12 laps of racing but still Dennis could not be caught, despite Leclerc setting the fastest lap of the race in the closing stages. Behind the top three were Maximilian Gunther and Alexander Albon who fought closely for fourth and fifth place, whilst Callum Ilott and Alessio Lorandi were battling it out for sixth position – with it ending disastrously for the 16 year old Briton Illott who, after contact with Lorandi, dropped back several places to finish in eleventh. In the end seventh place was also out of reach for Silverstone winner George Russell, who failed to pass Mikkel Jensen. 1. Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam) 2.
