Spectators and riders hurt in Superstock crash

A spectator was seriously injured at the North West 200 on Saturday after she was hit by debris from a crash in the opening Superstock race. The accident happened between York Corner and Mill Road Roundabout, with three riders involved: Dean Harrison, Horst Saiger and Stephen Thompson. The latter walked away unharmed, but the the other two, along with the spectator were taken to hospital. Saiger sustained only minor injuries and was discharged on Sunday. Thompson and the spectator remain in a critical but stable condition. This comes a year after competitor Simon Andrews tragically lost his life following a crash at the event last year, and this latest incident will call into question the safety of the event, and ultimately its future. Our thoughts are with the injured Thompson and the spectator at this time.
